This is where i have grown heaps and tons of respect for the knowledge, and experience of members like Old Guy and GM.
I know better than to argue with these fellas, and that always teaches me to learn and polish what i "think" i remember.
I had no doubts that it was a correct cabinet until OG's 2nd post. The mere fact that he was holding firm on his position is my own persoanl indicator that i'm not seeing something that he is.
Then, GM posted and referenced his judgement based on the throat area pic. Now i must admit that area popped a few question marks for me. But, i ignored them and allowed myself to be convinced solely on the obvious "addition" to the bottom of the cabinet.
For a bit of irony here, i have built 815's from the 70's plans posted in the library. Fortunately, there are a couple pics of one of my builds. After 3 seconds of looking at them i realized that GM and Old Guy are spot on. I stand totally corrected. That is a cobbed up DIY.
Here are my p'bucket pics, note the driver spacing and general throat area. I'm pretty sure i built most of my Altec cabinets true to the plans. Except you can see where i used 3 braces behind the horn flares instead of one .
