    Not to pick nits, but the AB8500 is a dual 15" woofer box.

    Occasionally they come up for sale on ebay new in the box.

    Assuming the speaker is actually a prototype, Altec may have conveniently utilized an AB8500 input panel for the build.

    Yeah, for some reason mah was on the Italian ebay sight...... maybe it came up with Google that way. I've found that sometimes my Google search results bring up a related auction on a non-US ebay page.
