890a has a very nice Altec tweeter, the c model has a cheaper Heppner tweeter. The 886 is IMHO not as nice. The posted 890 set has the Altec tweeter. Make sure the tweeters work. They can't be fixed and replacements are pricey.

    Those are 890B's.

Truncated woofer frames with 3000 series tweeter.

890A has a different woofer and passive with round frames, and i believe the woofer motor is a little smaller as well.

There was a pair of 890c's on craigslist by me for 2 months. They wanted 250 for them. I was tempted to make an offer, but I really didn't need an extra set of speakers at the time

I have heard the PR really helps to improve the bass in the smaller cab. Its a shame the horn doesn't have a standard two bolt pattern so you could play around with different drivers

Thanks guys, Sonny said he is only interested in the 890B's, but they sure are scratched up. I will contact the guy and maybe offer him $250 if they work as advertised. Unfortunately, I am not a haggler. I really want to build him a 2.1 satellite system using 2 12" earth globes with a coaxial 6.5" speaker along with a 16" globe with a 8" subwoofer. I think that I can build a nice system for no more than that $250 price tag.

There is a pair of 892a's on Audiogon for $240. In decent shape.

The guy has them on a pair of $70k Magico towers for stands. I wonder which pair he enjoys most.
