As the price falls, the appeal grows. He's got to be down close to cost.
Those cabinets were well executed, at least from the exterior, and as much as i would not want the seller to hear my opinion, i'd go as far as to say "beautifully done".
FWIW, just the grills would cost you in the neighborhood of 5 bills for me to build them. I can't see the total build cost being less than 1500 if he hired a shop/contractor without a significant "friend discount".

I think thats top dollar for original model 17's. There are two pairs listed for 5,500$ and 6,500$ that will probably sit until they accept a lower offer.
I think custom speakers are a tough sale. If I had that kind of money to spend on them I would find a builder and have them build exactly how I want them. And I would use 604G instead
If he goes down another grand or so then it would be under cost. I could see them selling for 2,500$
In his build thread he said he paid 2K for the drivers from GPA and 2.5K to have the cabinets custom built and finished. He's bleeding already.......

The current ferrite GPA 604 are 950$ each plus 38$ shipping on ebay. All his other ebay prices are the same as the direct from GPA prices
