Thats good Phil. Hopefully your survived as well as mine. He used 7x7x7 boxes that the drivers fit snuggly inside. Then those were in boxes smaller than 10x10x10 that are marked "2.5 US Gallon" that have a round hole on the top. Very little padding in between.
To be fair he did pack them exactly how I asked. Just not as much box or foam
Look good, don't see any phase plug impressions, do you and/or any VC winding discolorations?

Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.
The diaphragms look really good. The windings look good. The little wire that hooks the terminal to the VC is still nice and curvy, not fatigued to a 90. The terminals are the older screw style.
These came out of a sporting arena. Seems like with the amount of them used (23) they weren't having to work very hard.
The plan is to buy a pair of GPA diaphragms for these. I don't want to need a supertweeter also. Now I just need to find some multicells
got my pair today. they look just the pair Don has with 278 and 279 ser#s. hooked them up and they sound fine. actually the sound really nice. im happy. now if I had a Saturday off. I called John the guy who sold them. he's been working in large venue sound for many years. very nice guy.

You're right about John, nice guy. I asked him what happened to all the horns that went with the drivers. He said they were all "recycled" before he found out about all the gear. At least they were just mantarays and not multicells
