Serendipity, mainly, plus some researching experience that makes some 'off-search' items in a non-related google search result page seem worthy of a look.

Betcha a lot of the multicell horns got scrapped when they came down.
Yep, tried to get the ones on a large publishing plant ~a 1/4 mi away from our plant that used them double duty to signal work shifts, lunch and never could find the person that could authorize it, so all went to the metal scrapper AFAIK.
