Yes the Duelunds are much more costly and as a result I run the risk of having a Placebo effect on my hearing having spent that much money (I got real good deal from a friend that was hung with them from a project that went south but it was still the most I've ever spent on a pair of caps) but as I said the GTO's did not measure up to the Russian K75's which can be had for about the same money as the GTO's. I must admit that I did not use them in my amps as they are solid state and they are direct coupled to the output and don't go through a cap. I could use them to bypass the 4 - 18,000uf power supply caps but I'm not sure if that will be worth the effort ... maybe one day.
I don't mean to offend or start a back and forth but just report what I found/heard. Again, this was my experience, with my system and my old ears processing the info through a mind that isn't as sharp as it once was. Again sorry for the typo.
Ahh, thank you for the kind explaination. I have K75-10s, 500 to 1600 VDC in my stash, and there is no comparison. Yes, you should put GTOs across your amps 18K uF caps and simply GIVE that a listen. Use decent wire, short leads ( I use brass M8 12 mm bolts, and double 12 AWG on ground, double 14 AWG on hot side of a GTO , wire being m22759/11.)
On a first order crossover, I would never use ONE cap alone, but rather, my friends and I developed over several decades, a multiple cap bypassing scheme, as no one cap ( except MAYBE a Dueland, and maybe not) will "do it all" in all frequencies and music ranges.
Bypassing, multiple, is not part of this thread. In my ALTEC VOTT crossover, I use a 0.68 uF 1600 VDC K-75 10 as the GTO's first bypass, followed by at least four more smaller uF value caps, ( WIMA FKP1 pulse caps typically ) to get full musical expression. All done by ear.
A month ago, I tried a GTO as a series cap in the 6.3 VCT filament winding's center tap return to ground, and found it unacceptable , even WITH extensive bypassing. Not so, however, with GTOs as part of a bypass bundle in my amps to the finals, and to a bundle of 6 or 7 caps in each "C" position on my DIY crossover !!
Nothing I hear comes close to their getting the leading edge of the transient, lows on up.
Have fun, I do !!

I didn't mention it but I did bypass the GTO with a .22uf V-cap and still no soap. For what it's worth the V-cap didn't do anything for the Duelunds either so the Duelunds are stand alone and do the trick. Again YMMV.

Now that I think about it my head must have been thinking "6 db per octave filter" so my fingers typed "6th order" ..... anyway that's what happens when you get old.

I bet I am possibly older than you.
My Dad had an ALTEC 604 in the house, when my Mom brought me home from the hospital. She ( and I ) were listening to an ALTEC driver ( and tube amp ), as she was nursing me, December 1944. Trenton, N.J., USA.
Anyone on this Forum....... listening to ALTEC .......before I was ??????????????
I wonder ?? !!

In a past life I was listening to an Altec 604 duplex in November of 1943. I have you beat by a whole year!:p

Came with their own marketing shtick,
"Highly Oriented Polyolefine"
and custom, modified midrange dustcaps.

About the third song, imma actually paying attention,
to other things, besides the bass.
The electrolytic cap grit became noticeable.
