Just get the frams for the 291's and a single 1005 with another 828 and you'll have the front three channels for a home theater. Then all you'll have to do is convince the wife.

There must have been some serious improvement to the large diaphragms as the 288B's couldn't be EQ'd to be anywhere near as good/extended up high as the 802's, otherwise would never have done the stacked 511s or developed the huge 1" throat WG.
Mine basically hit a brick wall around 12 kHz, though mids to die for. Seems like to get more extension would compromise the mids as normally one is always 'robbing Peter to pay Paul' in adjusting a closed system.

Years ago I had duel driver 288's on tar filled ten cells on my 828's with E.V St 350a tweeters. Still chasing that sound. Just so natural. Mick Ronson was "in" my livingroom
