I'd like to know how he knows they are A7-500W 1's vs A7-500W II's, perhaps he has some original paperwork?
Very little documentation on Magnificents. But, over the years i have come to the conclusion that there were 4 versions:
A7-W
A7-500W
A7-500W 1
A7-500W II
A7-W and A7-500W seem to be the least common, and earliest versions using a simpler cabinet trim.
Not all vegetables make good leaders.
On the early Magnificants that I salvaged, the grills were quite different. The wood was much thicker and in a slightly different pattern. When I saw the picture, I thought that they were a later variant.
If there is a serious interest, I can contact the guy. The speakers would cost a mint to ship, so someone would have to be highly motivated.
Do you know the way to San Jose?

You'd probably be able to date them via a combo of images from the Altec catalogues and the 391xxx dates on the drivers to build up an approximate timeline. I've got a pic of a set that look like these, with green components, 391630 on the 803B, so 1965.
That said we know of the habit of Altec of grabbing anything around that worked to put inside cabs.
