    Thanks for the GPA update.

It seems that you've got your plan and that you're good to go.

    Best of Luck!

I have used Aleenes for refoaming speakers in the past. I keep it around now for general craft glue. I’ll use it for things that aren’t serious enough so for something like Titebond.

I just thought people used some sort of epoxy for the attaching the spider. I’ve tried to scrape the stuff off before and it was very hard to get off. The stuff the holds the cloth surround on seemed to be more like a glue.

Thanks Earl, I think I’ve made my decision. And I’ll know for sure the speakers should be ready to give me happy listening for years to come.

Dunno about epoxy, but way back when, the icky shellac used to seal/insulate coils from corrosion, fungus was often used as a glue to withstand the extreme temperature 'swings' [expansion/contraction] of prosound apps and it gets about as hard as epoxy over time as anyone can attest trying to strip it off individual strands.

Re [re]magnetizing, just got a response from my query and as far as they were concerned, GPA was the only one on their list still in business and would only trust them if there's others they're not aware of.
