    Tangerine Phase Plug

    Hi everyone

I have one 808 8b HF driver and one 802 8d HF driver.
The 808 8b is missing it's tangerine phase plug. Apparently
the previous owner tossed it after it came loose?!
Anyway, I would like to find (purchase) a tangerine phase plug for
the 808 8b. And then swap (sell/purchase) one of the drivers so
    that I'll end up with a set of either 808 8b's or a set of 802 8d's.
    Any input appreciated...thanks.

Good luck finding just the phase plug. Maybe you can locate a damaged driver and steal the tangerine from that. I know that bowtie found a loose tangerine for a driver of his that needed it, but I don?t know where he sourced it.

Otherwise, I would ditch the 808B, and just stick with the 802D. I like the sound of the metal phase plug better.

Maybe you could get one 3D printed....

    Re: Tangerine Phase Plug

    Good idea!
Never thought of 3D printing. I have a friend that might be able to do it.
I have come close to obtaining a parts driver but just missed out.
    And I agree I prefer the 802 8d to the 808 8b , however the 808 8b
could be converted to a 802 8g with a light diaphragm change down the road....thanks.

    Re: Tangerine Phase Plug

Problem with 3D printing is you need an accurate 3D drawing of the part. Where you gonna get that?

Great Plains has a newer design phase plug based on the Tangerine that may fit. Maybe they will sell you a plug? Would at least get the driver functional.

I have a pair of 808 with no diaphragms I might be talked out of. Transitional model, they have the newer tapered body but still metal phase plug.

Concerning 3D Printing of a Tangerine phase plug...Old Guy is right!
My friend says it would take 1-2 hours to create a 3D design file.
The finish quality would be rough. And the cost would be more than a parts driver.

So looks like I'll keep looking for a parts driver!
    Thanks for all the input.

I can ask around. What do you think is reasonable for a driver no diaphragm?

    Re: Tangerine Phase Plug

    Lowest parts driver on E-Bay $65 + $29.30 S/H. (807 z)
Just contacted GPA, waiting to hear back for either parts cost? or repair cost?

Might try CL ad for parts driver.
    All CL search yielded 0

    Still a waiting game!

    Re: Tangerine Phase Plug

Hi all - brand new member, first post.
I've been collecting speakers my whole life (mid 40's), and recently was finally able to acquire a mint pair of Valencia's 846As. In doing research on these and the beloved Model 19's (which I have yet to find a decent pair), I read about this Tangerine phase plug, and the theory behind it.

My question is, if one were able to source these plugs, 3-d printed or otherwise), would they work in the Valencia's 806A horns as well?

Forgive me if this is a stupid Q, still learning about these classics.

    Thanks all -
    AJS
