It's not alnico. But, the 3127 is all Altec, plays nearly ruler flat from 70hz to ~3khz, is 97db sensitive, and are usually priced under the altec radar.

Beware of a pair currently being offered on ebay. Seller claims they are 3127, i believe they are actually 414-16E.

    Re: Searching for midrange duty...

Thank you Mr. Bowtie, I?ll have a look

    - - - Updated - - -

Well, I just had a look and all I could find after searching for ?Altec 3127? was a single driver with a cost of $175 plus $122.22 shipping.
Living in the Philippines on a tight non-income situation sure has it?s downfalls.
I?ll have to start selling off some of the audio hobby supplies to fund a couple project necessities. Maybe bartering is the answer...

Always greatful for tips and advice, thank you so much!

Do you by chance have a forwarding company called LBC near you? They charge a flat rate no matter the weight...

no they seem to be based out of Australia. there doesn't seem to be any local offices.
i see one site called my shipping cart. says they'll ship them sea cargo for 30 $
after a little checking,, Shipping Cart is definatly in the HELL NO!!! category.

    Re: Searching for midrange duty...

I see there’s an LBS Express in Jacksonville.
Before I go any farther I should ask a few questions about using said woofers...
in my garage I have a workbench made of cinder block and cement. There are empty sections measuring 8.35cf each. I’m wondering if I can stuff the 416s, the horns and the midrange units and their appropriate enclosures inside and still retain enough volume for the 416s to breath properly. Do you have any idea the enclosure requirements for your drivers?
Second option is to put the mids onto an open baffle...
    Any comments?
By the way, what’s your asking price?

It seems the 3137 is ideally suited for a 1.5cf vented enclosure. From what I?ve read it?s a very good midrange unit.

I think the 2118 will work nicely. What do you think?

    Re: Searching for midrange duty...

Your call..... mid-band eff. based on published specs = 95 dB/2pi and upper corner frequency barely meets the 1200 Hz XO minimum recommended XO, so would require shelving down if need to go higher: Altec 32A, 32C, Emilar EH1210, EH800, EH500 and Faital Pro STH100

FWIW, for HIFI, an increasing number of folks are using the better 'full-range' drivers and if you can find the Chinese? folks that makes these AlNiCo vintage spec drivers would be my choice since I assume shipping from USA is too pricey.

I've only auditioned one of the ferrite 8" in a simple TL ~15 yrs? ago, but build quality was impressive and took me back to my youth performance wise: DIY Full-Range Speaker Kits High Efficiency Speaker Audio Nirvana
