OT: So what's an 18" JBL K151-4 good for?

An Alnico pig in a poke So I got the poke. Or what do you get when proverbially loose that game? just an ugly or un-tasty pig? What it was supposed to be was a 3184 or 3182.

Supposedly a great bass guitar driver. Calling OG! He's got to have an opinion... :-)

Will get some T/S on it tomorrow or so.

The K series is JBL music instrument stuff. I found it in the 76 catalog.
It's a good speaker. I would suggest perhaps a mono center sub? Below about 110 Hz is non-directional anyway. T/S parameters here:

    Thanks OG.

Look for "Bertha" or "Big Bertha" plans.

A gerbil is good for nothing. Have some fun. Plug it in to a wall outlet and see how long lasts. For even more, fun place it face down. But make sure you have a long cord !!!

I see you have decided your posts no longer need to make sense.

I think it might have been a poor attempt to trash talk the JBL. I stand by what I said. It's a good speaker.

Probably not my first choice for a sub, mine might be an Altec 3184.

But the JBL will do the job. If I had it I would use it.

Re: OT: So what's an 18" JBL K151-4 good for?

yeah, I am in no hurry to use it. A winter project to make some 18" suitable baffles for my 12cuft boxes if anything.
Though also tempting to try it as an open-back/OB guitar speaker, I probably won't be bothered.

If someone wants to trade me a decent 3184 for it, I am all ears :-)
