    Thanks old guy,

Umm 416s have a cloth pleated surround. Do you have a pic? if it has a rubber surround you definatly need a recone.

What Phil says is correct. But you may be confused about the surrounds. If you have trouble posting pics PM me and we will get it worked out. Would need pics of the surround and any numbers on the back of the cone.

Thanks Phil and old guy, I'll get some pics tomorrow as I've put them in their stored position for the night to allow the Mrs to put her car in the garage.

It's right where the grey-ish cloth or paper material connects to the black, rubberized pleats on the outside diameter
. The black, rubbery pleats I'm guessing are a "suspension" of sorts...? I was blown away by the sound. Had the LF's running off the main speaker outs and the horns on a "B" remote channel out the back of my Mac 1900, full range on everything I guess.

So I opened up the 808's, they have Radian 1228-8 diaphragms.

Is there a support group with counseling?

This will be a rare case where I disagree with Todd. The Radian diaphragms are far better that he Symbiotiks that came in the 808's. Both were designed by Jonas Renkus.

Renkus felt Altec intentionally sabotaged the Symbiotik.

I used literally dozens of them.
