Can anyone identify three Altec or Westrex recone kits I have.
They came from the estate of the Altec / Western Electric / Westrex agent in New Zealand.
They are 15" and have 2 numbers written on the packing. These are 21092 and 52988.
Two of the cones have:
-Black spider, black fabric surround.
-Thick paper 1" long, 3" dia former with a 1/4" long coil at the end, no vents.
-21579 and 18360 written on the former.
-INSP 2810 and 21184-4 written on the cone.
The other has:
-Tan spider, black fabric surround.
-Aluminium and thin paper 7/8" long, 3" dia vented former with a 3/8" long coil at the end.
-21853-8 written on the cone.
-?8?812 written on the former.
Along with the cones, came two 15" drivers marked:
Westrex
Acoustilens 20/80
LOUDSPEAKER ASSEMBLY
LF UNIT
Westrex Co Ltd Made in U.K.
These have Alnico magnet assys and it all bolt together (no glue on cone or spider), they also have a handle on a strap around the magnet.
The cones on these are marked 21184-2 and they look like the 21184-4 spares I have, maybe they are different impedance.
Any assistance in identifying the cones and drivers (are they related to Altec?) will be much appreciated.
regards,
