Hello all...
New to this board. I recently bought a pair of used Altec speakers that I would like to learn more about. The seller said he couldn't remember exactly when he bought them originally, but guessed late 70's, early 80's. Details.
Commercially constructed boxes with Altec Lansing medallion on brown grill cover.
Box is 40 x 26 x 18 inch, oak veneer.
Altec 15 inch duplex speaker.
Pleated cloth surround.
6 chambered plastic horn, apparently no phase plug.
Front mounted tweeter control. Labeled "Dividing Network for the Model 604-8G Studio Monitor Loudspeaker.
I made a brief attempt to remove one of the drivers from the baffle, but it was stuck in place pretty securely.
Thanks in advance.

I would like to see a picture but off the top of my head sounds like possible an Altec Stonehenge III. You can email me a picture at [email protected]
The 604g is one of the later alnico 604's a very good speaker. I use one for my center channel. I hope you put them to good use.

Steve...
I did a little searching on the net and found a site with pictures of speakers that appear identical to mine.
http://www.voiceofthetheater.com/6048G.htm
As best as I can tell the boxes, grills, and front of drivers in the pictures on this web page are identical to my speakers. Still haven't removed my drivers from their boxes to see what the back of the drivers will reveal.
Thanks,
Tom

Excellent enclosure for the 604. I have a pair of boxes with same volume but in a taller skinnier box but with the Stonehenge look.
