I have been checking out this cool site for quite a while. I haven't seen any 417 threads.
Can I get any info, specs, opinions on the 417?

    417-8C or 417-8H?

Both are good guitar 12" speakers.

Good as monitor speakers as well.

8H has higher power capability I believe due to the aluminum voice coil supports.

    60-8K response. 8 ohm speakers

16 available in the 8H series and are rare.

    What's not to like?

If I remember right Santana's favorite guitar speaker and along with old JBLs and EV SRO as good as 12 inchers they get. Try one with SE Fender champ for a great sound.

I have a vintage 417-8H series II alnico speaker in my guitar amp. I really like it. I replaced a EVM 12L speaker. The EV sounds great too, but I noticed the high end of the Altec to be a little "smoother". A great sounding speaker!

Thanks for the compliment!, I like your Screen Name! forums

African Imbuya, it's a hardwood with a attractive reddish brown hue to it. Here's the front:

Also, anybody know what the "H" stands for ?? I assume the 8 means 8 ohm...Anyway, I got a pair of them for sell on that " E " place.....you know...I say that because I used a name of a Peer to Peer site on a differant board and got **** about it......but I notice that someone before my reply has allready made refrence to the " E " place.....
