    Thanks so much Don Mcr and Steve B for your valuable information.

    Now these speakers that have been in my family since 1969 now have an identity. I had no idea that AltecLansing had such a history or a following with hardcore audiophiles. Looks like I'll have to consider refurbishing them.

    Any suggestions on where to go to have this done? I sure as **** am not taking them to Circuit City : )

    I'm in Long Beach, California.

    You could ship the empty boxes and grills up the coast to us in Bellingham, WA and we could do it for you. You might consider doing them yourself but perhaps sending us the grill and dimensions. David Florio at Audio Resources can make new bases for them. He uses hardwood for those so they will never deteriorate. Send me some closeups again of the cabinets and I will give you an idea of what it might take. They are well worth restoring, especially if they have been in the family that long. Steve
