    Lynn,
    Yes, that latest price on E-Bay for those model horns was hard to believe. But I do believe the Mantarays have been getting ignored and have been a bargain, maybe until now. I am using the large format metal MR-94 horns with my A-4s lately with excellent results. I bi-amp and use a passive compensation network to flatten out the top octave rolloff Jim D. mentions. Compared to the 1003 multicells I was previously using, the Mantarays sound much smoother and less colored, with a more open sound. Some may prefer one over the other; give them a try.

    I agree, the Mantarays and other constant directivity horns have some advantages. The use of this type of horn with a Model 19 could be interesting. forums Those horns did go high on Ebay.

    Question

    Hi,
    I am wanting some advice on Mantaray vs multicell horns. I want to build a pair of speakers for my studio using 817s with 515s. I have a number of horn options:
    805 multicells
    MR94
    MR64
    MR924 (I think this is the number, it's a fibreglass Mantaray about 18" X 12" mouth.)
    I have the option of drivers, 288, 588, 291, 292

    Any opinions much appreciated.

    Good Morning to the Group:::

    Could it be that the bidder thought that drivers were included? That would help explain the high PRICE.
