Beautiful DIY HIFI system using M19 components

Altec Model 19 clone help, though posted why it's technically not.
Loud is Beautiful if it's Clean! As always though, the usual disclaimers apply to this post's contents.

    Beautiful!

Puts my last DIY project to shame: a pair of bucket subs driven by a Crown 1502. They sound great. Wife hates them because, well, they are buckets - even though they are black.

My DIY cabs look like unfinished MDF. Because they are! Sound pretty good though.

I don’t get over to DIY Audio too often. I remember when he started those. Pretty cool. Going to be hard to toe those in at all.

I’ve never measured the cab tuning on my 19’s. Mine have GPA coned 419-8C’s. The -8C has different specs than the -8B that were originally in the 19’s.

I’m working on DIY reconing a pair of 16” 420A Alnico frames with MWA cones to see what I think. Their parts are pretty darn close to the original Altec. It’s actually quite fun to do.
    Enjoying Altec Speakers since 1972
