    if the high limit switch in gas furnace control was switched with fan limit what would happen?would furnace still ignite?

    I am assuming that switching the high limit with the fan ,means that the fan control switch now controls the igniter
    I would also hazard to say that the fan control(if it is cool)is on then the igniter would come on,but when the temp of the furnace go's too high
    it would shut down(if this is a newer model,the older ones did not shut off on over temp)therefore shutting down the igniter,when cool it would start all over again.So yes I beleive it will work,but I have seen someething like that on the RED GREEN SHOW

    The high limit is normally closed (at room temp) so the fan would run continuously.

    The fan control is normally open and closes when the furnace warms up. Result, no flame.
