I ran into this once. A series of poles made of 10 in steel pipe. a run of quadruplex was strung between. The way I see it there is no practical way to bond these to code. I would be different if there was a conduit between.

One would be tempted to use the bare wire for a bond because thats better than nothing, but that would be dangerous if a truck or tree hit the o/h line. It could break and become live energizing the poles.

If this was a lighting installation it likely would have been single phase.
Perhaps the fourth wire was an equipment bonding conductor?

Or perhaps it was a three phase, three-wire feeder?

I agree that if it was a three phase, four-wire feeder, a fifth wire would be required to bond the poles.

It was a three phase 3 wire feeder for motors. Is the bare ACSR wire an acceptable bond? If it was 3 ph 4 w I cannot think of a way it could be done.

Steel poles must have high resistivity, and should have power to control under certain substances such as disaster , or in electricity failure. Always use best quality product at once only....instead of replacing again and again.
