Took a co-worker for a ride and... good story.

I took a co-worker for a ride. She is about my age (29ish), and it was really funny what happened.

She's driven with me before and said, "Ok, I'll go for a ride with you with your new SC... but how much faster can it really be, it was already too fast for me anyway."

(This comming from someone who drives an Ford Escort).

So I kinda warm everything up, then as soon as I get some open road, I punch it. The best part.. she starts SCREAMING! "Oh, Oh... woo-hooo". She continues, "Oh stop, I've got kids". (Meaning I'm going so fast she thought she was going to die, and had responsibilities - the kids)

It was really funny, made my day. It's not everyday I get a girl to scream in my car! She said afterwards that it was the fastest car she'd remember driving in. I guess it did make a difference. (Course I knew it did)

Dang right you should charge I got guys wanting a ride as soon as I get my ride back today. Got the Clutch to hold everything I throw at it (ACT 6-puck, Xtreme PP) and a Quaiffe to boot. My mechanic say that I had a boost leak so I was only making 4-4.5 lbs of boost [evil grin ] man to think I ran a 13.80 with a boost leak on street tires?? I just increased the boost to 8 psi soooo

Did you upgrade anything else for in addition to the 8PSI pulley like larger injectors or anything? Or are you just running stock everything except the fuel pump?

The BTM doesn't kill boost performance. Without the BTM you have to set the initial timing so that the maximum advance attained is correct at full boost. This has the drawback that the timing is not as advanced as it can be for lower or no boost. The BTM varies the advance depending on boost level, so in theory you can run optimum timing through the whole spectrum of no boost up to full boost.

1fstgsr. Fill us in on the BTM. I've been thinking of getting one inorder to get off boost performance back. What do you have base timing set to now and how much do you retard per lb. of boost? Do you feel it was worth the money? Was the install easy?

Well the BTM helped all around. Added a good bit more bottom end power and on the top side too. Base timing is set to 18 Degrees and retard is 3/4 of a degree per pound of boost for a final retard of 12 degrees. I installed the BTM behind my center console and ran the wiring through the hole that is factory right below the battery. (you should be able to see a rubber gromett there) Mounted the SS Blaster external coil where the old Intake use to be.
Using a AEM right now. Overall I spent around $355 on the whole thing including new MSD wires. Will give you the new results after I go the the track this friday.

When you say you installed it in the center console, the whole thing?

I think the MSD-6BTM was a big red box. Is there a gauge to see as it retards etc? What comes with the kit.

Does the big red box install in the engine bay?

Have a MSD 6BTM with a External SS blaster coil. Upgraded the fuel pump awhile ago by myself. Simple upgrade that really helped out. other than that everthing else is stock.
