Sorry Judy, I'm like 9 days late for the bake sale, I post, forget, and then read them like 2 weeks later *L*
How did the bake sale go? I couldnt have had anything anyhow...I'm on no sugar, low carb, until the man gets home *P* But I would have liked to see you and the not-so-little lil men again. We have to get together before I move.

It went great! We made over $240! There were only
a few things left and my mom took them to church
on Sunday and "auctioned" them off. *L* She got
$5 for 6 cookies *L* She had sold the last few
things we had left and had another $15!

i love this idea..
here's one of my favourite recipes..
good to warm the soul
good ol black bean soup
in a large saucepan cover 2 cups dried, rinsed black beans with 6 cups of cold water and let sit overnight.
add 4 cups of water, and bring to boil over medium heat. simmer, covered for 1.5hr
in a kettle, cook the white part of two leeks, 1 celery stalk, 1 carrot, all minsed and 1/3 cup minced celery leaves in 6 tbsp butter over med. heat. stir until veggies are softened, add 1 tbsp flour and cook for 2 minutes. stir in beans (& liquid) 1lb smoked hamhocks, 2 cups water, 1/4 cup minced parsley, 1/8tsp mustard seed and a cheesecloth bag containing 2 bay leaves, 10 cracked peppercorns, and 4 cloves. bring to boil over med. heat, simmer, covered, add boiling water if necessary to keep covered, for 3-4 hours or until beans are very tender.
take out cheesecloth bag, remove meat from hocks and reserve it.
puree mixture to desired consistency, add reserve meat and 1/3 cup dry sherry or tbsp salt or season with cayenne and pepper..
return to heat until hot.
garnish with thinly sliced scallion, crumbled bacon, hardboiled egg yolk and/or minced parsley..
i'm a sucker for this shit..
