    Writers Strike Update: Ultimate Guide To How the Strike Will Affect TV Shows

    UPDATE: THIS PAGE IS UPDATED AND ACCURATE AS OF THE MORNING OF SUNDAY, 01/27/2008.

    As the Writers Strike lingers on, the effects on Television are quickly taking hold. Whether you've noticed it yet or not, your favorite shows either already have or soon will be affected very soon. It's likely there are only a few episodes left or worse, no episodes left.

    I've broken the list out into three sections: 1. Shows still alive with new episodes remaining, 2. Shows with no more episodes remaining and 3. Talk shows and Soaps:

    STILL ALIVE: Shows with episodes remaining and how many:

    Aliens in America - 7 episodes remaining (eff 1/25) CW is currently running reruns of this show with no word on when new shows will return

    Amazing Race - Amazing Race 13 is already being filmed and will likely premier later Spring 2008 after April or May 08 (earlier than planned due to Writers Strike)

    American Dad - 8 episodes remain eff 1/25 with the next one airing 1/27.

    American Idol - Underway January 2008

    America's Next Top Model - Season 10 will premier in Feb 20, 2008

    The Apprentice - a celebrity version of the Trump show began 1/3/2008.

    Back to You - 2 episodes remaining and will air on 3/12/08 and 3/19/08. It could be canceled permanently after that via (eff 12/07)

    Battlestar Galactica - 10 episodes set to premier on 4/4/08. Its unfortunate, but episode 11 which was going to be directed by Moore will not happen. Originally slated for 20 episodes.

    Beauty & The Geek - Ten episodes for next seasons show premiering March 11, 2008

    Big Brother 9 - Will return 2/12/2008 and 2/17/2008 instead of the typical Summer run. via

    Bones - 3 episodes remaining (eff 12/07) (next episodes 4/28/08, 5/5/08 and 5/12/08)

    Boston Legal - 2 episodes remaining (eff 1/23) Next one will air 1/29

    Brothers & Sisters - 2 episodes remaining (eff 1/15) Unknown when new shows will return

    Canterbury's Law - Midseason premier April 11, 2008

    Carpoolers - 5 episodes remaining and will reportedly be permanently canceled after that (eff 1/25). Next ones air 1/29 and 2/5.

    Cashmere Mafia - Next one airs 2/6

    Cavemen - 7 episodes remaining (eff 1/07)

    Cold Case - 1 episodes remains and will air on 2/17

    CSI: NY - 1 episode remaining (eff 1/24) will air 2/6

    Dancing With The Stars - This reality show will continue with a 6th season beginning 3/17 without the writers (yes they actually have writers) via.

    Dirt - All 7 episodes will air (eff 01/15) on 3/2, 3/9, 3/16, 3/23, 3/30, 4/6 and 4/13

    Dirty Sexy Money - 1 - 3 episodes remaining (eff 12/17) unknown when the next will air

    Eli Stone - 13 episodes will premier 1/31.

    Everybody Hates Chris - All 22 episodes will air. 10 have aired as of 1/1/2007.

    Farmer Wants a Wife - Reality Show premiered December 12th and nobody noticed...

    Friday Night Lights - 3 episodes remaining (eff 1/26)

    Greek - Season 2 begins 4/1/2008 with 8 episodes.

    Hells Kitchen - Premiers April 1st replacing House when it runs out of episodes via

    Jericho - One bright spot for 2008. All seven (only planned a short season) episodes will air. Will premier Tuesday, Feb. 12 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT)

    Kitchen Nightmares - had been planned for Summer, but could return Spring 08 via

    Kyle XY - Entire season 2 should air beginning 1/14/2008.

    Las Vegas - 4 episodes remaining (eff 1/26)

    Law & Order - 4 episodes remaining (9 of 22 made) (eff 1/24) with the next ones airing 1/30, 2/7, 2/13, and 2/20

    Life is Wild - 2 episodes remaining

    Lipstick Jungle - Will Premier 2/7/2008

    Lost - All 8 episodes remaining - premiers 1/31. Only half of the originally planned episodes

    Medium - 7 episodes remaining (all 9 will air) eff 1/24

    Men in Trees - 11 episodes remaining (eff 1/06) The next 6 will air 2/28

    Monk - Full second half of season premiered 1/11 (15 episodes) set. 11 episodes remain as of 1/26

    New Amsterdam - All 7 episodes will air - Premiers 2/22/2008.

    The New Adventures of Old Christine - 8 episodes remain eff 1/25 (8 of 13 episodes were filmed). The show will premier 2/4 (Mondays at 9:30 Eastern)

    Nip/Tuck - 5 episodes remain eff 1/24

    Notes from the Underbelly - 8 episodes written and should air.

    October Road - All 12 episodes should air. 4 episodes remain and will air 1/28, 2/4, 2/11 and 2/18

    One Tree Hill - 8 episodes remain eff 1/24

    Oprah Winfrey's Big Give - Yep more reality programming starting 3/2 via

    Prison Break - 3 episodes remaining (eff 01/21)

    Psych - Full second half of season premiered 1/11 (15 episodes) set. 11 episodes remain as of 1/16

    Pussycat Dolls Present Girlicious - 8 episodes for yet another reality show premiering 2/18 via

    Reaper - 3 episodes remain with the next one airing 3/4

    Return of Jezebel James - Midseason premier 3/7/2008 With all seven episodes.

    The Riches - 2nd season premiere is 3/10th. Seven of 13 were filmed next six air 3/10, 3/17, 3/31, 4/7, 4/14 and 4/21

    Samantha Who? - 3 episodes remaining (eff 12/11)

    Scrubs - 5 episodes remaining (eff 12/10) with the next one on 1/24

    Shark - 1 episode remains. (eff 1/24)

    The Shield - All thirteen episodes remaining slated to premier April 1, 2008

    The Simpsons - 12 episodes remaining eff (1/07)

    Smallville - 6 episodes remaining (eff 1/11). The next four episodes air 1/31, 2/7, 2/14 and 3/27

    Stargate Atlantis - All episodes should be fine - 9 episodes remain & air 1/11, 1/18, 1/25, 2/1, 2/8, 2/15, 2/22, 2/29 and 3/7

    Supernatural - 4 episodes remaining (eff 12/14) the remaining in 2008

    Survivor - Returns for a 16th season 2/7 for an "all-stars" show.

    Terminator: The Sarah Conner Chronicles - 6 episodes remain eff 1/24 (9 episodes total)

    Til Death - I didn't even realize this show was alive anymore. Will return on 3/7/2008.

    The Tudors - All of the second season will premier 3/30/08. I've added the season 1 release on DVD to my Netflix queue

    Unhitched - premiers 3/2/08


    DEADPOOL: Shows with no remaining episodes:

    24 - None this season! Moving the premier of "Day 7" that was originally going to air January 08. Now pushed to next season because they want to air all 24 episodes without a break. via

    30 Rock - 0 episodes remain (eff 1/11) will air on 1/10

    The 4400 - Has been canceled.

    Big Bang Theory - 0 episodes remaining. Just over half of those originally planned.

    Big Love - Had been planned for Summer 08, but will likely be delayed.

    Heroes - 0 episodes remain. Tim Kring, the main producer and writer of the show said he made an alternate ending of the 11th episode (airing December 3rd) in case it became the last one of the season due to the strike. via Very unfortunate since 22 episodes were planned originally. (eff 12/04)

    Heroes Origins - Production was postponed.

    How I Met Your Mother - 0 episodes remain

    It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia - Not yet renewed for a 4th season so not yet affected.

    Journeyman - 0 episodes remain (eff 12/20) Journeyman is reportedly being canceled after this season.

    K-Ville - 0 episodes remain as of 12/18.

    Kid Nation - All episodes have aired - season completed.

    It looks like most of the soaps are being written by scabs once they run out of fresh material so all of you soap opera fans should be able to get your soap fix for the time being... via LA Times

    ABC - All soaps written for episodes "well into 2008" -- All My Children, One Life to Live & General Hospital scripts completed through 1/2008

    CBS - As the World Turns, the Young and the Restless, and The Bold and the Beautiful have scripts completed through 1/2008. Guiding Light has scripts completed through 2/2008.

    NBC - All of their soaps including Days of our Lives written into January 2008.

    DirectTV - Passions should air new episodes until February 2008.


    Well that's a wrap. Expect to see a lot of Reality TV and a ton of Repeats in Primetime TV - House and other's will show reruns on multiple nights

    I doubt it since they are fining one of the networks for NYPD Blue showing some chick getting walked in on while she was getting into the shower. It showed her bare ass. A young boy walked in on her. Okay....big deal. They are fining the network and so on like 1.4 million for it. [img]eek.gif[/img]
