Hi Rose!

Welcome to Absolutely Wrong - we're a fairly friendly bunch

Saw this thread, and it drew me *G

There's so much I could post here, but I need to gather my thoughts first *L

In the meantime tho, can I suggest you check out a site called www.whichbook.net...

It's one I'm involved it, and it tries to suggest a read by "mood", instead of author, title, etc...

It's a British site, but most of the books you find should be available in the States

Right on....I love to read. I have a series I read that is based mainly on Egyptology. And then of course alot of Nora Roberts books. I still don't quite know if they can truly be classified as romance novels...LOL

Hi Rose!

The Egyptology series wouldn't be the one by Christian Jacq, would it???

And Evo..have you read the Spider World series by Colin Wilson?

I read almost anything. Amazingly enough I have a book on Nostradamus, The Egyption Book of the Dead, poetry books (I am published a couple times through poetry.com), Stephen King, James Patterson, all sorts of stuff. But I seem to be drawn to the Amelia Peabody mysteries based on Egyptology by Elizabeth Peters and most anything by Nora Roberts aka J.D. Robb.

Here is an interesting factor. One of the best "historical romance" writers I have encountered happens to be a male. But the "romance" books I read aren't what I would consider romance because they have actual story lines to them and aren't sickeningly graphic.

Evo..There are 4 in the series

1 - The Tower
2 - The Delta
3 - The Magician
4 - Shadowland

The first was written back in the mid 80s, but Wilson has taken his time about writing each one (No rushed job for the money!!!) - you might have trouble finding the first couple now, but it's worth it!!

Also, the Northern Lights triliogy by Philip Pullman is stunning...(Read it now before the big budget movie hits the screens )

Rosie - why not post some of your poetry on here?

And if either of you are looking for something "different" to read, why not try "The Curious incident of the dog in the night-time" by Mark Haddon - a mystery told from the viewpoint of a teenage boy suffering from Asperger's Syndrome??

<font size="3" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">People would be surprised to learn just how many female romance writers are actually male *L
