My first 2 computers were Dells and I had good luck with them. I then bought my wife a Compaq and had beucoup problems with it (I think I read that HP ownes Compaq).
My current beast is a Gateway with a 120gig hard drive (gotta keep that jukebox full).

lol, we have about 15 Dell laptops running at work.. umm... they have to be repaired... a lot... *L*....
but in all fairness, they are also transported back and forth to different labs at least once or twice a week, so i'm sure some of it happens in the packing process... not to mention the sheer volume of information that has to be put on the hard drives every night at least 4 or 5 nights a week... constant use... etc etc.... but honest to god, i never had one bit of problem from the HP until.... i let someone talk me into taking what i had off of it and loading windows XP... it's been all downhill from there...
