you have to view the slide show to see the offensive serial number. but to save you the time, it simply had hte letters 'JCKME' at the end of the serial number.

what gets me is that the child was able to pick up on that and turn it into something offensive. it's not the cabbage patch doll company that has a problem, it's the friggin parents and the kid.

I know where Augusta Georgia is. That's not too far from where I lived in Georgia.
I almost bought Cassie a Cabbage Patch Doll for Christmas but I couldn't find one I liked or one I wanted her to have. I wanted to find one that kinda looked like her.

ANYWAY, sticking to the topic. It seems that the Cabbage Patch company wants to throw blame on the computer saying.....

The Play-Along Company makes Cabbage Patch Dolls and said the serial number was generated by computer and was not deliberate

doesn't someone have to feed the information into the computer in order for the computer to put it out? Do you see what I'm saying? Something tells me maybe it really isn't a computer error and maybe infact there is more to it.

IF infact, it was JUST a "computer generated error", if I were them I'd be doing some changes in my computer to make sure it didn't happen again.

But someone please go ahead and answer that question for me? Doesn't someone have to put in that info in order for the computer to put it out?

actually....no

there is a "random" generator that has been discussed over at the Acropolis in all computers. It is possible to use this function to generate a random sequence of characters. Which is what I assume happens with Cabbage Patch dolls.

On the flip side, it is possible to put in safe guards to prevent certain words from showing up, something similar to the way license plates get made, limiting the position in the word that certain letters can go.

anyways, this has nothing to do with the company, if they wanted to do something obscene, I think they could have come up with something a bit more clever.

i agree with dj. i could go on and on about
how this whole ridiculous society got this
shit in its head... but i won't.

i also agree that the girl and her family
were imposing such a situation for whatever
reason. similarly to emotions and other words,
its a combination of letters... nothing more.
only you determine what they represent.

i wonder where the girl is with FCKME....
why hasn't she spoken up?!?!

Hahaha that's fuckin stupid.. it's not as if it said FUCKINGSHITCUNT or anything, what fuckin idiots. And since when do 9 year olds acknowledge "JCKME" as 'obscene'?
