in america is 21...therefore, by law, it is illegal for any individual, under the age of 21 to consume alcohol.
In australia, if i recall correctly from previous conversations, the age is 18...
i want some thoughts about this...is it something that should be abided by, or is it a stupid rule, and there should be no age restriction.
Yeah legal age is 18.
And it's the same deal as with michy moo..
If you are under 18, you cannot purchase alcohol or drink it in a "public" place (restuarant etc).
However if on private property - not just YOU*R home, so long as it is a private property, you are allowed to consume alcohol. We had police come to our school to talk about it all a few years ago, and they said we don't have to be with parents - just as long as it is private property.
If in a restuarant with our parents - THEY can purchase it, and we can drink in their company.

its 18 in nz too, legal to consume it under that age only if at home or under parent supervision i believe but its a hoax... little girls and boys around age 14 upwards wind up puking their guts out at pathetic parties which they find to be the coolest and most happening thing at the time...

I couple years ago a judge in the state of Louisiana declared the law that set the drinking age to 21 as unconstitutional. So for a few months the legal age was 18. The federal government told the state that if they did not raise it back to 21 they would withhold federal highway funding.
