I had an older gentleman call me the other day. He kept getting a no dial-tone error when he would try to dial up to us. After talking to him for a minute he tells me that he has the phone line plugged into his All-in-One printer/copy/scan/fax. And that this is hooked to the computer through a USB cable. So he couldn't not understand why he could not get a dial tone. So I correct that error and have him plug the line into his modem.
Then I ask him if he is talking on the same line that he uses to dial up on. He says no. I ask him to try connecting, then, I hear something pick up on the line....I was thinking nooo freakin' way...sure Enough I hear the modem dialing. He goes it's not connecting. I'm thinking, what a dumbass!
Oh, and I had to have him change some settings, but he kept looking for the 'Start' button that was on his tower somewhere. sigh...

lmao.... HE'S OLD!!!!
we'll all be there too someday when we're trying to program our VCDVMP3TIVOMS Recorders to catch 'Superbowl LXI'
my grandpa may not be able to surf the internet or any of that, but he could outwork my ass every day of the week and twice on sunday.
the man can build any fuckin' thing you could possibly think of whereas i'd be sitting their scratching my head trying to ask some dumbass lowes employee "Which way to the lumber yard?"
So sure....old folks may not "get" technical stuff....but im sure as hell that old guy would put most of our generation to shame when it came to street smarts or manual labor.
i will agree with that....
in fact, i want to have some smart remark to use, but i can't come up with anything to use....if i had to choose between technical stuff and "manual labor" so to speak (assuming they both paid the same), i think i would rather be a craftsman with my hands. Recently I've been doing some very small home improvements, and it's a blast.....but that is beside the point....
THAT GUY WAS SO OLD!!!!!!! HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Yeah it's always better when you've got something to step back from and look at when you're finished. Damn computers.
