i would like to take this time to say that TC Works has the best customer service around! i called earlier to inquire about a slow connection but all of the CSRs were busy. instead of leaving me on hold until i became frustrated, the friendly operator came on the line to inform me that everyone was indeed busy, but that she could take my name and number so they could call me as soon as possible. i thought, "yeah right, they are never going to call me back. NO ONE returns phone calls." well, TC Works proved me wrong! they called back, and the person that i talked with seemed to have a good deal of knowledge concerning computer and internet related topics. by the way, i like what you have done here, dj. wonderful, simply wonderful!

Why thank you. I am goign to guess that you talked to Chris. he is the internet guru. I hope that he was able to improve the service you were receiving, i knew that there was a lag in the speed you were experiencing.

    no.

'the guru' didn't do a thing. just the usual
    blah blah about southwestern bell.

i simply don't see why we are getting worse
service from a company in the same town, than
before when the service was coming from jonesboro.

    i just don't get it.

That's probably why you don't work for an internet service provider.....

what was your connection speed when you first began receiving our service? and what is it now?

when we began with TC Works, the connection speed was at a lovely 52....now, it is a miracle to get 44.

the guy on the phone (i dont remember his name) said that connection speed in the 40s was good. at first, i wanted to shout, "is it?!" but i didnt know what to say after that, so i just said "ok."

yeah.... the first day on TCWORKS was at 52 kbps...
then next day it started dropping....

    50...

    49...

    45...

    i am now at a whopping 40.2 kbps.....and holding....

with BSCnet, our connection never fell below 50...
NEVER... for the 2 years we had it.

now, TCWORKS can barely tug 40+....

i had assumed that if we went with a local
service, our internet would AT LEAST be equal...
but i can't figure out why a company in jonesboro
gives better service than one in my own city!

i hate to remove the service from TCWORKS...
for the sole reason that it is local... and i
do like your customer service... (MUCH better
    than BSCnet)....

but the friggin low connection speed is a joke.
    surely something can be done

My apologies, but that is completely out of my hands. I have no control over what the internet service is. I sit in my little office and the only time I see the guys over the internet department is at softball practice. and work is the last thing we want to talk about.

the only thing i can tell you is that the guys you talked to really know what they are talking about. just out of curiousity...how much are you paying a month for internet...(including modem rental if necessary, phone line...etc)

    $18.95...i think....something like that.

it would be nice to have DSL or cable, but, damn, they are just so expensive!!!

That was going to be my suggestion. it is about twice as much as you are paying now, but look at it this way. if you were to pay twice as much, you would get a much much faster connection speed. and you would always be connected..(i'm going to stop before I sound like a commercial)

and as much as you certian people stay on the internet, it seems that it would be well worth it.

    just a suggestion though
