oh yeah.. that reminds me... you have to take
the test in LR... and since i have personally
called to find out the information... you need
to schedule the test WAY in advance.
they do take 'walk-ins'... but its highly
advised that you don't. as well as... the
test schedules are really ganked up...
you actually have to set an appointment to
take the test...

yea, i knew about all that crap, from my experience, they are all on saturday, and sometimes they are done 4 and 5 times on saturday, other's only once.
also, the cost of the test is ridiculous....100+ just take a test? give me a break...if the university is going to require it, i think they should offer it as well, even though, that would just cause them to jack up the cost of tuition, so either way, they find a way to screw you
also, as an update, i spoke to the professor in the computer department who processed my papers, and he completed them last friday and put them in inner campus mail. the graduate office still does not have them. and when i asked what the hold up was, she said that the inner office mail took 2-3 days.....holy crap, that is slower than putting it in the post office, you've got to be kidding me. when i worked for blue cross and blue shield, way back in the day, you could put a letter in inner office mail that morning, and it could be at another location, a seperate building altogether, by that afternoon....why can't uca be half way as good as that...it's just ridiculous.
anyways, i'm still not in the computer, and if i'm not in by tomorrow, i have to pay late registration fees which is really going to piss me off, b/c it's not my fault that they didn't do their job in a timely fashion.

if you aren't in their computer by tomorrow,
i'd contest the late fees and demand that i
be considered 'timely'.... as you obviously were.

i've listened to the GRE cd... and i have to
admit... i never realized how 'tricky' most of
the questions are. tricky meaning... a real
mental job (and i'm not talking about equations).
apparently there is a real science behind answering
questions... and its not just about the obvious.
its almost scary listening to it.

I finally got registered last night.....Here's what I'm taking:
CSCI 6370 DATABASE II
Study of algorithms and performance in advanced databases. Systems include parallel, distributed, and client-server databases; applications include data mining and on-line analytical processing. Core course.
I'm sure it's going to be difficult, but i'm hoping that since i've worked with databases at work for the last 2 solid years, that will give me a leg up on the other students, and allow me to stay ahead of everyone else, making things less stressful for me....whatever the case, should be interesting...
I knew that the class was going to be expensive to take, but i wasn't expecting a $700 charge for the class, and that doesn't include the book. This all better be worth it.
