I wonder what kind of project involves destroying a horn diaphragm.
I expected this to be the "original" Emilar horn that's been butchered....... I mean customized.
I have to admit I've pulled off a winding or two to reconnect a burned out voice coil. But I haven't tried gluing together a cracked diaphragm. It probably worked until they tried to drive it at high power. The efficiency would have been compromised not to mention the frequency response curve. So I'm in agreement...."throw it away!"
Here is a good chance to get one and cut it in half for future reference. It would be nice if any time anyone sends in any Altec speaker for reconing, to get the old one back cut it in half and take good digital photos to document each kind of speaker and what makes them different. You would probably need to coat the cut line with epoxy first to preserver the fine paper, aluminum, and copper.
Actually I threw it away, seller must be a dumpster diver:cool:
People will try to sell you anything ! Have you heard of yesterdays newspaper ? I have one if you want to buy one... :biggrin2:
What's the best thing to do with old computer hardware you will never use again such as monitors, drives, expansion cards, cables and other devices- Trash, recycle or create works of modern art?
