well, i don't want to hear any complaints...the phrase has always gone...if you don't vote, you can't complain....
i don't understand how you can sit there and complain about something that you didnt' even take part in.....yes, it can be said that one vote doesn't mean anything.....but i disagree....for every person that thinks that, those people combined make up a large number of voters....i'm too tired to complete my point....once i read all the complaining in the next few posts, i might make some more rational thoughts.
I get so tired of that old yarn....it's old, broken and quite frankly down right wrong..... It's a crock of shit in my opinion.... I live in this country... I work my ass off and get 33% of my money taken from me ever fucken week...that goes for things I have no control over..but I do it... I pay into every aspect of this country and god damn it I am an american and I live here...nothing anyone says can change that... It is my right NOT to vote.... no one says I have to...and no one said cause I don't means I don't have rights to complain or that I do not care about my country or what goes on in it..just because I do not vote, does it totally mean that I feel one person makes no differance...its clear one person can make a huge difference...as a mom I alone make a difference everyday in my life, my sons life and the decisions I make have a huge effect on us both.....but because I do not vote means I have no rights...where does anyone get off saying that....IT'S AMERICAN TO HAVE THAT CHOICE...FREEDOM OF CHOICE..that is entitled to me as much as you..and anyone who sits there and says we who do not vote have no rights need to check their supposed american values at the door.... cause there is nothing more american THEN THE FREEDOM TO DECIDE TO OR NO TO VOTE....
I have talked to a lot of people that vote and quite frankly most that do are well aware perhaps even what they vote for and find actually passes, matter...if our government decides they want it differnt they will just change it and it will just be.... but they vote anyways cause it makes them feel good... and I respect that.... there is so much that we as the people don't get any say on and have to just live with... so if voting makes you feel empowered then good for you... I respect that... but I work hard, I put into this country everyday of my life... and I do right by others, myself and my son who will grow into a fabulous person and contributing part of this country as well.... and NO ONE...NOT NO ONE...will ever tell me what I do or don't have a right to feel, say or do..FREEDOM IS NOT ONLY ALLOWED TO THOSE THAT VOTE...IT'S A FREEDOM OF CHOICE TO ALL...NOTHING IS MORE AMERICAN THEN THAT..RESPECT THAT!
Your vote doesn't matter anyway, no matter who "wins" tonight, tomorrow the loser will sue and the whole fucking thing will end up in court again. The whole election is just a big ruse to make the people happy and think that they're actually doing something.

you guys didn't even vote??? I'm with DJ. Look at the numbers. Every vote is counting. With a difference (in some cases) of only thousands, there are enough of you (40% of eiligible voters who do not vote) out there to sway those numbers. Dissatisfaction with the system is not solved with silence. Though leaders they may be, mind readers they are not.
With such strong opinions against one person, I thought surely ALL of you would be going to the polls. All year long we've read the posts on political issues. I'm just blown away right now. Maybe if I'm quiet now (or had not even posted in the first place) my silence will resonate what I think.
i'm glad someone else shares how i feel. i'm not saying you dont' have a "legal right" to express your opinions. I dont' understand how you can sit there, complain for months, and then just sit back and let everyone else decide how things end up. this is the first time i've ever voted, it's the first time i have ever cared. i might have voted for the wrong reasons, but it doesn't matter, i stood up for what i believed.
if i had not voted, i would probably be making the exact same point. if i care about something, i'm going to do something about it.
let's use this as an example...(disclaimer: i'm not trying to push any buttons with this example, it was mentioned already in this thread, i feel comfortable using it again)...wiqued, let's say your child receives low marks on his report card, even though throughout the semester, he has brought home test scores of 100, homeworks of 100, all of his papers are perfect. that would upset you (it would upset me if i had a child and that happened). now, what would you do about that? would you come to hostboard and express your frustration with that...and leave it there? heck no, you would go talk to someone or do something that would actually make a change....
how is that situation any different than the presidential election? you guys (this post is meant for anyone who didnt' vote and is complaining) come here, rant about how much this upsets you, yet you talk to people who are either doing the same thing as you (therefore accomplishing nothing) or to people who actually did something about how they felt (once again, accomplishing nothing).
i guess what i'm really saying is that by complaining about something, and then doing nothing, it serves no point. i dont' think many lawmakers/senators/Presidents read hostboard posts.
