Trav, we are likely to go to a stated vote to avoid manipulation of the voting process. Do you want to state any preference?

Trav will not be checking the board while he's in Mexico. Since I'll be speaking with him later today, can I post his vote for him?

I agree with AL on the stated vote. It's impossible to be objective with the poll I have set up.

I think a stated poll is the way to go.

Yes, we will have to set up a vote thread where you state your preference. This will eliminate manipulation of a poll by things such as alters, clearing cookies, or even just people who normally go to other hostboard forums but would have a lot of fun playing around with this one.

I feel no great sense of urgency, but that could be because until/unless we have a new mod, three are fine. How about a deadline of Friday midnight to register a vote, and put it in this thread here?

Friday midnight sounds good to me, but I think we need a specific voting thread. By my count we have 17* members.

The anonymous vote is a fundamental component of a fair and impartial voting system. Forcing public declarations of support is more in keeping with countries that favor simple ballots. You know those one name ballots where write in's are discouraged at the point of a gun.

I'm a little unclear on the voting eligibility requirements as well.

What criteria is being used to determine who is or is not a "member" here? Do you have to have posted within a certain time frame? Do lurkers have a membership stake or are they to be treated like felons in Florida?

Also, I'm just a bit gabby today, shouldn't the question of whether to even vote to have a new moderator be a completely seperate issue?

I say we vote on the three or four moderator question first and then if needs be hold an election.
