For installation hints, here's what Jim recommended:

As for the installation, this is basic, so if you need more detailed
instructions, let me know.

Remove strut tower brace.
Remove injector plugs.
Remove fuel rail - leave injectors in manifold.
Remove Intake tubing.
Remove Throttle body. I like to leave it attached to the EACV and the
water lines and just lay it down close to where the intake pipe used to
be. (Just move it out of the way)
Loosen Supercharger belt.
Separate blower from intake manifold. Don't forget to loosen the bypass
hose. Gently push blower down onto coolant hoses below and let it rest
there.

Now, you come to a crossroads: try to snake the blower out between the
firewall and intake manifold OR remove the intake manifold.

I remove the manifold. The lower bolts are hard to get to, but with a
little patience, you will be fine.
Once the manifold is out of the way, you can stand the blower up and
face the pulley toward you. Use a 1 1/2" open-end wrech on the inside
of the pulley and a (17mm I think, maybe a 19) ratchet on the front of
the pulley. Once the bolt is removed, gently pry the pulley off. It is
pressed on, so it will be hard. (A pulley puller/press helps a WHOLE
lot).
Once the pulley is off, simply slide the new pulley on. It will go on
part of the way easy... then start the nut on the front side and force
the pulley down with the tightening of the front bolt.

Do the "Removal" steps in the reverse order as above, and you are done.

When I helped with V Geeks 8psi we also heated the pulley to like 240f or so, and slid it on hot, this way, it wouldn't get loose when hot. I forget the exact temperature.

We took the snake route out, and removed the fuel filter to make it easy. I like your option though, I'll have to see if it's better.

Anyway, as soon as the J&S get's on, the 8psi pulley is going on. It will be a couple of weeks at least, i'm busy.

Lundgren, thanks for the positive reply to my instructions... it is nice to get an "at-a-boy" from a veteran like yourself.
To give you an idea of how well the "remove manifold" route is... I did a blower AND pulley swap on a '99 GSR, with the help of Will (1fstGSR), and a few distractions (it was a busy time of day), in about 2 1/2 hours.

Well Jim,
I developed a coolant leak somewhere around the water tube. Guess since it will be easier to get to with the blower off, I'll be doing the 3.8 pulley Fri. It took me 14hrs straight when I installed the SC(not bad I thought), so I'll be shooting for that 2 1/2 to 3hr mark myself. If the damn thing wasn't a press-fit, one could loosen the motor mounts and drop the engine down 4" to 5" and slide the pulley off...oh well.

Maybe I should do that 8 psi pulley also. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif I have a water leak as well as other problems which I haven;t figured out yet.

Just need to get a 3.8" pulley. How bout it Jim?? http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif

On second thoughts, 8 psi on a 10.6:1 compression engine dosen;t seem like a good idea.
