Help Identifying AG Samantha

Can anyone help me identify which AG Samantha that I have? I have been searching for any website or information that can help me differentiate the Original dolls from the Mattel dolls but haven't had any luck. Thank you for your help.

OK, I did see the pictures! She looks like a great doll. Her arm does need to be fixed, you can send her to American Girl Hospital, if needed, and tell them not to exchange her body as she is Pre Mattel.

I do see a tag on her body! I would like to know what it says. The only dolls that had tags on the body that were pre mattel were the 1986 Mafe in Germany or West Germany. If the tags says West Germany, she is one of the first Samantha dolls that Pleasant Company made. If the tag says Germany, then she is the 2nd or 3rd cluster of Samantha's made.Which maybe year 1989-1991 As Germany's West and East became united after the Belin wall went down.

If there is no tag on her body then she is a Hungarian Samantha 1991-1994, but I saw the tag on the body.

The arm itself has already been reattached by a local doll repair person. She fixed her right in front of me and used the pieces that she came with, the only added piece was the metal gommet on the inside ball that holds the elastic.

Her "Meet Dress" does say "made in germany" which is what made me first think she was one of the first, however, there is no tag on her. You may be mistaking the neck string as a tag.

What criteria do you look for to determine pre or post mattel dolls? Just trying to learn all I can.

My Samantha has a white body but no body tag. Her meet dress says "Made in West Germany." My mom is currently looking for the reciept but I got her for Christmas sometime right around 1989.

Hi, I have comparison pictures in an album on imagestation and lots of pictures of my 1980's white bodied Samantha in my albums. Check out my Chicago album for the most pictures. Your Sam's hair is darker than mine and she has a body that matches her arms and legs. It is not the same color as Felicity's, so I would say she was from the mid 1990's.

Hmmm maybe she is Hungarian, but has a German outfit. The person who you got this doll from stated that she was the original owner?
