We have an infant hamster. She's barely weaned and we are just learning her personality. One thing she has made clear is that she likes us to interact with her, including petting, and she will sit quietly in our hands, but for just a minute. She does not want to be out of her cage. She freaks out even during the time it takes to clean her digs.
So imagine how surprised I was to find she was not in it this morning She has a dome that slides to lock and it's hard to work - I guess somebody didn't manage it well enough.
Long story short, our kitty spied her in a very safe spot under my dd's 1930's harvest moon dressing table and told on her. Kit loaned us her flashlight to peep into the crawl space, and plan how to block the back and flush her out the front. Yay Kit! That flashlight is very bright, so we kept it at an angle but it sure made it easy to see what we needed to do. It stands on it's own too, which made the job easier.
Pretty cool little tool. Get one for your dh's tool box comes with fun cans of food, a pair of binoculars and a bag for your favorite hobo.
Tora the Explorer is back home and having a nice rest, after gratefully wolfing down quite a meal.

Yes, from Kit's hobo set. Be careful if you have a young child - these are LED lights and dangerously bright for children - I'm a bit surprised they used LED. I had to caution both my kids and they are older, just because they might think - toy = safe.
But for those extremely supportive men in our lives - this is a great little tool. I also used it as a photography light when I photographed the panoramic egg I made my niece. I cut out Lettie Lane ( Victorian) paper dolls and put her family's heads on them (photos, you know, not real heads) and I wanted to keep a photo of the whole egg. The strong little light was perfect for aiming into the hole, and was unlike other LED lights, because it has a base to stand on. For something else tha tis handy but not as strong, Kit's goosehead lamp is also handy for directing light, and gives good light, but is unlikely to burn corneas.
BTW - if anyone buys the hobo set just for the flashlight and doesn't want the cans of food, I'd consider buying them for our store. Or, you might be able to buy just that item if you call in your order.

Glad everything worked out! BTW, I have Kit's bedside lamp, and every time the lights go out, I use that to get around. It really helps...
