I have heard this forum mentioned on the HB many times but what is it exactly? How do you becaome a member? I heard people talk about different surveys that they have and so on. I was just curious if this was a club/ member only type of forum.
Thanks

I'm wondering too, Sandra Dee.

I'm wondering if there are a few different forums. We are members of the American Girl Survey group which someone just mentioned in another post. We have been members for quite a while and just now started getting points for answering the surveys. We are also members of the American Girl Forum. We were allowed admission into this group by invitation only and we are given points for answering the surveys. A friend of mine also mentioned being in another forum which gives points. Some of the surveys she has received we haven't. When I asked the Forum why we didn't get the other surveys, they told us we have received all the surveys they have ever sent out. So, I am thinking there are a few forums out there.

We were also invited to join the forum. I just received another survey tonight. It is due by April 6th. If I and my two DD's answer by then we receive points that eventually we can cash in for gift certificates. I am not sure if there are different forums or not? I think you can only be invited to join and not request yourself. But I could be wrong.

But who do you get these invitations from? Its like a secret society or something...lol

Sandra, someone on the Board was kind enough to give us her invitation back in November. Popsie told me recently that she just went to the website and asked to join. She had a couple of friends that did as well and half of them were accepted so if you went to the website, you might be able to join as well. I'm not sure if she and I were talking about the same Forum because the rules for hers sounded a little different from ours. Both allow you to accrue points for taking surveys. I think it is for parents and children in the target age group, but I am not for sure. If you PM her I am sure she could give you the address for the Forum she mentioned to me.

Thanks alot Kim I really appreciate the information!

Thank you for replying Popsie You are probably correct in that the different Forums are one and the same. I, too, read the part about membership being for one year. I truly think DD and I are going to cry when Novemember comes I love taking the surveys and my daughter loves it because she feels AG values her opinion.
Tracy participated in another Forum right before Christmas in which they had a discussion group and at the end they had a drawing for gift certificates. I had thought ours was the same, but it wasn't. I wonder if AG does have multiple companies doing research for them. If so, I'd love to find out who they are and join their groups!

That's so interesting, Kim! Thanks so much for the info. I've been wondering about these forums for a while now and you answered my questions.
One more quick question: if you see or hear about a new AG item on one of these forums, how often is the item that you see on the forum exactly like (or similar to) the item that AG releases a few months later? In other words - on average, how much of what you see on there first turns into actual AG products later on?

Well, we have only been in the Forum since Novemember. If I remember correctly only one idea has actually come to fruition. However, there have been trademarks that have appeared for ideas that were asked about in the Forum. As we know, though, just because a trademark is taken out, doesn't mean it will really happen. I think Popsie is right in that these ideas are basically ideas and you never really know whether they will become a reality or not. Although if you read the prior thread that was removed....that idea had better come to pass! I told DH that I wanted this "idea" the nanosecond "it" was available. Gorgeous...truly gorgeous.
