I would tend to think that they would have gone with a little bit younger pope, but then again they are almost all seniors.
I think the popularity of Pope John Paul II induced them into electing someone as close to being like him as they could find. Next time around it will likely be someone younger. Benedict will not be able to step out of JP II's shadow IMHO.
I'm curious, why call him a hypocrite when he hasn't even made any policies yet as Pope? Or is it just a blanket accusation against church hierarchy in general?
