Simplicity 5042 is a pattern for a girl's colonial dress. It actually has two versions. I think it's size 6-14, so it should be easy to modify the skirt for your daughter. I think I'll also make the next one for my daughter. We bought her one in Williamsburg a couple of years ago, looks just like Felicity's Christmas dress except that it's polished cotton, which she wore a couple of times and that was it. I think it was $100.00. There's a children's clothing shop on Duke of Gloucester St. that sells these dresses. They're pretty, but not that hard to make yourself.

Thanks so much for the info, in fact, someone else had pm'd me the same dress pattern earlier today, but I just got home and got the messages. I also have another pattern by Butterick 3236 that has one that would work for Felicity, and also a Spanish-inspired one that would work for maybe Josefina or Marisol that Diana thinks is pretty cute too!
Sure, now I just have to find the time! Thanks again,
Laurie

Laurie, I've also got the Butterick 3236 - in fact I forgot all about it. The Spanish dress on that one is cute, too. Does the Spanish inspired pattern you have include a peasant blouse and skirt? If so, do you mind sharing the name/number of the pattern?

The only Spanish one that I have is the Butterick 3236, with the red dress and black pom pom style trim. I would use view C to make the Felicity Style dress but add some ribbons on the stomacher.
I never learned to make patterns, and I'm very intimidated by the thought of the process. It's pretty silly given the fact that I learned to sew at the age of 8 and made all my formal dresses for dances as well as my wedding gown and 3 Christening gowns that looked like bridal dresses. I just need the patterns!

editing to add: If I did make the red Spanish dress, I don't think I would put the pom pom trim on because I'd never find small enough pompoms for the doll version. Maybe just another kind of black trim would do the trick. With my Diana's hair coloring that dress would really be something on her though, so maybe I really should think about that one!
