Yeah... the itinerary at Ronnie's has been solid for a while now, so I was half expecting this. And although there are some free days in that Weckl itinerary, I don't see him hopping over to the the UK. I made my disappointment known on DW's Yahoo group.

Yeah, very disappointed. Last year I saw Gary Husband, Dave Weckl and Take 6, which for where I live (in North England) is a cracking year!
But this year, I've seen nobody which is gutting-I was hoping Marcus Miller was going to come here in the summer, but he's just in London- no way I can make that.
This country is absolutely horrendous for music, there is no-one decent that wants to come to the UK, (at least not in my region). I honestly thought that last years performances by the DWB would put Dave in demand in the UK, but I'm wrong.
I also told of my displeasure on DW's Yahoo group too! Though I am looking forward to "Multiplicity".

Ive heard from a reliable source that to put the dwb on the company/person financing it makes a HUGE loss (No excuses [img]wink.gif[/img]

I did used to have a copy of his rider/terms, it was a little full on.

But none the less im GUTTED!!!
I hope Multiplicity isnt delayed if the tracks are like his opener to his second set in Manchester (Pursuit) i will be very pleased.

Were you there at Manchester? That was an unbelievable show- even though we all know how Dave can play, it was Steve Weingart that stunned me- flawless display of chops and musicality.

Yes Weingart was the business, but what struck me more than anything was after seeing weckl at ronnies for 3 years straight whilst living in London was how awesome the sound in the theatre was compared to ronnies!

I dont miss the [img]graemlins/beer.gif[/img] prices in ronnies [img]graemlins/thinking.gif[/img]

So you live in Bolton? I live in Morecambe! Just down the M6. Do you know of any other good musicians playing up North this year- Martin Taylor comes round here sometimes.

To be Honest this country seems to be getting better SLOWLY but still v. poor.

Although i play a bit in London still, i dep for a blues band called Slack Alice who are supposedly well known in the north esp North East of England.

Ah, but there is something special about the atmosphere at Ronnie's.

Looks like I need to set my sights on Vital Information in December, then.

Yeah I agree it's a pretty poor year in the UK this year. I'm probably going to see Marcus Miller at the JC, and also possibly George Duke's band a couple of weeks later. Otherwise it looks like Vital Information in November.

I wanted to see Dennis but he's tied up with Santana all the time. There was a time in the mid-late 90s when you could pretty much guarantee DC would be in the UK, either with McLaughlin, Stern, Bob Berg or doing clinics.

Weckl was great at the RNCM, but I still think the Synergy lineup was the best, esp. with Buzz Feiten adding that extra dimension.

Hey, was anyone at the JC in Sept '97 for the London leg of DC's World Clinic Tour? It was amazing, esp. as Gary Husband was the support. Plus Mondesir sat in at the end.
