Favorite Dulcinea Stories from the board

I thought this might be nice. I have 2 distinct memories:

1. Dulce was trying to convince Becky Potter back on Cincinnati.com that everyone she was spouting off about wasn't so bad and it was a pretty good group. She was the 2nd to last to realize Becky wasn't real. Sluggo was the last to know. [img]redface.gif[/img]

2. This was in the summer of 2001. Dulce felt the board needed some spicing up so she started posting things about Trav including the observation that he was "boorish" then she banned herself and emailed everyone that Gae must have done it in revenge for her comments. I was in on it and so was LanDroid. (LanDroid has been involved in every unholy plot the board has ever had I think)She had a devilish sense of fun sometimes.

Next...

She used to always put up these sites with funny videos and such, but the thing she was best for was the replies to my posts of nonsense and the way she would find some picture to reply with that said more than she could say in words.

Dulc was always good for the intelligent laugh. The kind of thing that might not seem funny to some unless you thought about it for a few minutes.

Well, my first memory of Dulc entering the board was if she was an alter or not. It was during the time when all of GL's voices were speaking out and I recall numerous people emailing me asking if she was real or yet another one of GL's fig newtons. Some of the science stuff she was spouting was just too in depth and state of the art that I figured she must be real...though it was hard to tell because she was so incredibly bright. I wondered if GL had copied some science jibberish from some site and was using it b/c she was just so over the top.

As we all came to know...she was real alright...and scary smart!

Some on this board have made mention of her and my intellects in the same sentence but Dulc was on another level. I wish I had half of her intelligence! [img]smile.gif[/img]

Well, it might be too soon for my fave Dulcinea story, and I hate to steal someone else's thunder, but this was one of the rare occasions where she came out on the losing end. From the Dulc & Big Sexy Date Thread, it went something like this:

Dulcinea: "Big Sexy, spend some time with me, and I'll take you places where you've never been!"

Big Sexy: "Oh honey, I've been there, trust me."


Not sure why that sticks with me, I guess it's a rather bizarre thing for a hetero woman to say to a homo man, ay? Now that I think about it again, I recall this is one of the few plots I was aware of but neither instigated nor participated in...

I remeber talking music with her once, and her telling me one of her Favourite songs was Joy Divisions " Love will tear us apart" indeed a song we shared.
The day I heard of her tragic loss, I Bought an album by, Nouvelle Vague who put a unique spin on 80 s classics, and low and behold If that song isnt on there. A truly Beautiful song that will always remind me of Dulc, the only other soul i know whos a fan Of "The Macalpine Fusileers"

LOL! I had forgotten about that Dana. When everyone realized Dulce was a real person I recall now how "ghastly" a notion to her that people thought she was one of my "demented cerebral creations". Her username was suspect too (to those in the know) since I was writing a book at the time titled "Tilting at Windmills" and her name did fit as a possible suspect.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">There are a lot of funny things from that thread, though I have to admit that due to her loss, I'm squeamish about outsiders reading who don't understand the joke.

Independent of your post, I'd been thinking about something Dulc said over dinner during our last get together in May. Maybe it wasn't so much what she said than the unique manner in which she said it.

It was the middle of dinner and we'd been chatting for several hours at this point (we just came from a wine festival). Then out of the blue, she says:

"I just want you to know I would never compromise your virtue".

I don't know, I just thought it was cute. I don't remember how I responded, only that her way of putting it was so...her.

Just like the time she was consoling me during the break up of a relationship and I mentioned that it was best for me to have no contact with that person.

She commented about her own situation and how that opportunity could not be afforded her because she "shares genetic matter".

Leave it to Dulc to describe her children as "shared genetic matter".

I dunno, she really tickled my funny bone.
