Yamaha Oak

I did a search and found zilch....hoped guys who own or have played these could chime in with review....thanks

toms can be on the bright side, maybe a tad brittle (to my ears), kic has punch. not as warm a sound as say maple or birch.

I saw Weckl play them in a clinic last year and they sounded amazing... oh, same with Cobham too. Great projection and sensitivity it seemed. Nice look and prices too.

Thats on par w/ what I've heard Randy...Chris, yes.....Weckl has all that outboard gear tho' so anything he touches would probably sound amazing

Peter Erskine himself has said(on HOD)in no uncertain terms that these drums are amazing.

Given the opportunity, he will probably do so again...

I used them on a recording session a year ago, and I thought they were great. The snare was especially amazing. I would definitely recommend them. [img]graemlins/thumbs_up.gif[/img]

I believe that Manu Katch?, Peter Erskine and Weckl are very fan of the Oak.

Funny enough all these endorsers hype them up, use em for a clinic or two and then all end up back at the same ol' maple custom kits [img]tongue.gif[/img]

Any explenations besides the promotional value?
