When I recently built a new avatar for myself I realized that all the work that I put into them is scrunched down to a 96 x 96 format and all the detail is lost to the viewer.
Well I'm not going to bust my ass creating highly detailed works of art only to have my audience admire them as postage stamps! YOU WILL LOOK AND YOU WILL ENJOY, DAMMIT!
These avatars were created using the same philosophy I apply to my robot sculptures, basically throwing junk together and calling it art. In this case, the junk is 2D art from a online photo library I subscribe to at work.

I agree the 3rd fits Andy better, but I see the 1st one as "if Andy ever released a metal album" kind of thing. [img]graemlins/music.gif[/img]

I like the first one a lot too but the 3rd one is closer to my personality. The current (4th) one plays off the blank expressions of many vintage tin robots. The second one I never quite liked and it only lasted maybe a week as an avatar.

Andy... your vintage looking bots are expressionless... but my favorites of yours HAVE TEETH.... that's one thing that separates my faves of your work from the vintage stuff.
