Lindsey came home tonight.
My Lindsey has a grayish skintone.I had read a lot of posts here about the green/gray skintones on some of the older dolls. My husband was always saying Lindsey looked sickly next to the other girls.
After a lot of thought, I decided to call customer service. They told me to mail Lindsey to the doll hospital. They said not to include any money. They said they would fix her up.
I hated striping my beautiful Lindsey down and mailing her away in that box.The ONLY reason I did it is because I felt like if she needed to be worked on, it should be now, before they are out of parts for her.
I mailed her, carefully packaged, with a lot of notes.
After she was in the mail, I realized I forgot to ask for NECK STRINGS, and NOT a plastic tie. I called, emailed and called again. They assured me it was noted to my/her account NECK STRINGS.
The Doll Hospital called me last week. They said my Lindsey is just the color she is, and nothing can be done about it.They said they would give her a "wellness check" and send her right home to me.
I was totally cool with that.I was actually even relieved. There is something so sad about replacing a doll you love.I was glad she was coming home to me.
Well, She arrived tonight.
I guess they were trying to help.I guess they tightened her limbs...
She came back with her beautiful "AMERICAN GRIL" tagged body replaced with a new body with a new "American Girl" tag. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img] It really, really mattered to me that she have that "American Gril" body.
Worse yet, she had a PLASTIC NECK BAND. NO STRINGS. [img]graemlins/broken_heart.gif[/img]
I am so so so upset. I want her back like she was, like she is supposed to be.
We called CS tonight. They said I could send her back in for strings. They said they can not promise me her American Gril body back.
It scares me so bad to mail her again.By the time this is over, I will have about $24.00 in shipping cost, all to get My Lindsey back like she was in to begin with.I am so upset.I do not want to mail her away again, but the neck strings and body tag really, really matter to me.
I am sorry to complain here.I am just so upset.

Aww, poor Lindsey. That is awful. But call CS again, you should not be paying for shipping. they did not charge me for shipping for my Lindsey cause it was the company's fault in the first place.
Keep us posted.

Oh no! That really stinks! I am sure the hospital will do everything they can to fix her the way you want her...I am sorry!
Our Marisol is at the hospital right now. I wrote very specific instructions to them too, so I hope they will get it right. Dd will know if she is not her doll. In our case, the jazz shoes stained her anckles, so new legs are probably in order as I tried everything I could to get rid of the stains. I will be writing too if she isn't as we had hoped too...bummer!

Yes, they told me to begin with to include a note requesting a refund for my shipping cost.I did include a note, but they did not acknowledge it. I do not want to push it because my Lindsey is in there hands.I do not want any enemies there. (Do I sound Paranoid? )

oh that's awful, I would be very upset. I didn't send my Lindsey in either because I just thought they wouldn't have any peachy ones anyhow since she was limited edition. I would call AG back and tell them that they should send you a shipping label since you had explicit instructions not to use the plastic tie. They should have sent you a shipping label in the first place, I had to replace four dolls due to that gray/green skin problem and they sent me shipping labels for each and every one of them.

Im sorry to hear that about Lindsey!!! What an ordeal! Hopefully they can find you the one with the original tag you had!!! :/

Thanks Ladies. It is nice to have someone who understands.
Maybe I will call back and ask for a shipping label? They can always tell me no if they need to.It was awful to have to ask my Hubby to mail her for me again.
She is so sweet. It is so good to see her little freckled face again.I am SO not ready to send her back, but I feel like I need to while there is still a chance of finding her real body.

I'm sure they would have to have some "american gril" bodies lying around there somewhere! How rare is it to have one that says that on the tag anyways? How long before AG realized the mistake and fixed it?
-
I just don't understand why they only changed the fabric part? She still had her original arms and legs and head.I am sure of it.
I hope they find her body.I do not know how common or uncommon the Gril tags are.It would be interesting to know.

Oh no! I'm so sorry that you have to go through all this just to get your doll back to the way she was. I still think you should call for a shipping label. It's not like the people responsible for sending those out are going to be the ones working on your Lindsey (at least I don't think they are...). Good luck with whatever you do!
