I have 2 west german dolls with a tag, 2 early 90's doll's with no tags. These are all pre-mattel. So, I think the tag depends on when they were made.

It is catch as catch can aswith the "author's mark"!
White bodies do not have tags.
I have a first issue Lissie (sorry, DD has her now!) with a tag. My signed Lissie is tag-less.
My first issue Addy has no tag, but I have seen some with it!
This is so confusing! Enough to drive you to... buy more dolls!
