The more they stay the same.
Remember whn you were in school. (I'll give you all second or two to try and think back that far LOL! )
There were certain days that were significant only in the fact that you knew what was for lunch. There was Za day (pizza), fish sammi day, hamburger day... and you sometimes even looked forward to that day because of what was for lunch. Well, it seems to me that many of us have remained the same in our schedules with at leats one meal. I know a lot of people still do sketti night on cetain nights for dinner. Maybe tacos or 'za or something on another night, but lunch is where it seems to remain most prevelant. Certain people still frequent the same places and get the same lunch on certain days. Nothing wrong with that at all, and maybe the old school lunch is where they trained themselves to do so. It's not really monotony, it's just the way we are, and the way we are used to things. We all try to avoid this at times, but end up eating the same thing this monday that we did last monday for lunch. Going out with the idea of doing something completely different, only to end up with the same item in our hands or on our plates that we usually get. In a way it's kinda that we still hold true to our days of youth and still give days significance for being the day we eat a certain thing. Nothing mundane about it. Sketti night is still sketti night no matter what. Some will skoff at this. until you are sitting down to eat one day and think about why you got or made what you did on that certain day. Maybe you dont think you are this way, but chances are that you really are. Maybe you should just check and make sure you remembered your lunch money just in case.
