2. Terry Gulley (Super fast, super arm, Was the USA Today National Performance player of the week. 8 td passes against Pocy)
3. Jason Compton (Held VHSL Passing TD record for a single season. One of the strongest arms ever pure passer.)
4. Roby Hale (Wake Forest. Led Garden to State Championship Game)
5. Robby Colley (Super Intellegent, be game performer.)
6. John Salyers (The entire offense was based around this work horse.)
7. Tie between Chris Boyd and Andrew Bostic (Both ran/run the option flawlessly, big play threats, Great Leadership skills.)
8. Jake Colley (Best athlete not named Miller(Heath & Amanda) to play QB in SWVA-was extremely underrated)
9. Kevin Shortride (quick, quick, quick, Also great leadership skills)
10. ??????????? Can't really think of a 10th in the BDD that would fit this list. Maybe you people can help.
Possibly M. Hackney from Hurley I think was his name real good if I remember, maybe some of you Hurley fans would now and could help out.
This is my top Ten. Although there are more Haysi QB's on there than I would like I was trying to be very accurate.

Unless there's another QB from Hurley, Haysi, or Pocy that was better maybe Tyler Ball should be 10th.

I like the list orangetiger but I would put Salyers I think Salyers could have put up better numbers than Compton if he had the team Compton had. 5. Jake Colley at 6. Jaime Hackney 7. Shortridge 8. Brandon Miller from Honaker I think he graduated in 96, 95 football season. 8 is really all I can think of I don't think Bostic or Robbie Colley deserve to make the list I'm sure there is someone from Garden or Hurley or even Pocy or St. Paul when they were in the BDD that deserves to make the list over Robbie Colley and Bostic.

Tyler Ball was a good QB. Rob deserves to be on the list but bostic def. not

Well, I think this season makes it or breaks it for bostic, I forgot about Ball he was pretty good, bbj I also don't know about Jamie Hackney when did he play? If I can't even remember him than how in the world would he make the list?

Hackney was better than 7 guys yoiu had on this list as far as pure passer and strong arem i think you won't see anyone besides maybe Miller better than he in that dept. Chris BOyd i would not put on the list and Bostic either, i would put Kevin Shrtridge on there befroe either of them. ALso Tommy A. Justus was better than both of the Honaker QB's i think. Got to think up a list first. Hackney much better than Compton i feel yeah the guy put up great numbers but he had more weapons than any team may ever field in this district for a while. Not really old enough to remeber Gulley but have heard some good things about him and he was and still is in the VHSL record books.

Also would not put the younger Colley in there not becasue he wasnt one of the best athletes i have seen in years but becasue he was not the best optoin for a QB i think he was a WR and got stuck at QB with no one else to fill the void.

When rob played he would've probably made a better WR too if we had a QB to throw to him. It makes no difference. The colley brothers could've exceled at any skill position

I am older than alot on here I'm sure so I will give my opinion on the QB's I have saw over the last 25 years:
1. Heath Miller, Honaker...he was a big ole boy and and heckuva QB but I'm pretty sure his football days would be over if he hadn't been moved to Tight End where he has been ELITE.
2. Jamie Hackney, Haysi...best deep thrower i can ever remember in this area, could throw it over 60 yards in the air...not as accurate as Miller or Compton but could stretch the field better than either and much more mobile than Compton...could have went D-1 if he would have been more dedicated and had someone to work with him.
3. Jason Compton, Haysi...It wasn't his fault because he had a plethora of talented receivers around him and a great o-line...he still produced some amazing numbers and was the most accurate QB I've seen...the only reason he is not #1 is because his lack of mobility made it easy for certain schemes to shut their passing down...but only a handful of coaches were able to do this.
4. Terry Gulley, Haysi...was overrated in a sense that he had some inflated numbers in a few games against subpar teams...don't get me wrong though he was very accurate and created alot of problems for the defense because of his speed...he didn't really have a big arm though which is why I ranked him 4th.
5. Dewey Endicott, Hurley...most of the top QB's have been from Haysi but anyone who saw Endicott play in the early 80's knows he was very talented...this may be too high for him because he had some injury problems but he had the skills.
6. Chris Boyd, Honaker...Was like a Michael Vick, dynamic runner and often the best threat Honaker had at the time on the ground...limited as far as a passer but boy was he something to watch when he ran the ball.
7. Trevor Childress, Haysi...yes I'm old and this is why I know about this guy...he was the national Punt, Pass and Kick champion and had really good passing stats in a time when High School football was run, run, run...if he had played for Colley instead of Kiser then his stats might have been even better.
8. Brad Deskins, Garden...this little guy could throw the football...Shortridge was in no way a better QB than this guy. He was undersized but was mobile and threw it nicely.
9. Jeff Miller, Honaker...He was the best I can remember at Honaker in the 80's...very accurate from what I recall.
10. Jake Colley, Haysi...better than Robbie but was probably a WR playing QB...also we have a tendency to overrate those who played recently because they are fresh in our minds.
A few others:
Roby Hale...one of only 4 BDD QB's to win a regional championship...did not go to Wake to play QB though, he was an outstanding Defensive Player.
John Salyers...Had an arm like Hackney but didn't really understand the offense when it came to playing QB. He had one really good year throwing to Kory Bostic but I remember him more for all the int's and having never won a playoff game.
Robbie Colley...Cerebral but like Jake was a superstar basketball player but not overly impressive as a QB.
Kevin Shortridge...wasn't bad, just wasn't special.
Brandon Miller...Pretty good QB and kicker from what I remember.
Andrew Bostic...Could be a future addition to the list depending on what he does this year...doesn't deserve consideration yet because what has he really accomplished?
