Captain did something every show to turn the music off for the start up of the show- do you remember what he did that stopped the music?

I don't know the answer to that one, but I do know that Captain kangaroo got his first "break" as Clarabell The Clown on Howdy Doody [img]wink.gif[/img]

oh and the answer to the stopping the music question: Capt. would hang up his large key holder on a hook on the table...that would stop the music- all during the music he would shake all his keys.

Ya got me stumped, Dave. Even the hint didn't help, but i have a feeling when you lay the answer on me, i'm gonna feel dumb!
Somewhere in the cobwebs of my mind I remember Clarabell (with Howdy & Buffalo Bob, of course) doing a Happy Days episode, but i can't remember the storyline.
